All 197 selected countries are checked: 193 UN member states, Palestine, Vatican City, Kosovo and Taiwan. Territories and historical flags are excluded.
One specified national-flag design is checked per country, using the linked Flagcdn vectors retrieved on 5 October 2026. This is exhaustive within that inventory, not across every civil, state, textile or historical variant.
Afghanistan uses the Republic tricolor identified by the source as its UN representation. Malta uses the official three-color graphical reproduction, not the silver-gray textile variant. Bolivia and Costa Rica include the state coat of arms; Peru and Venezuela use the national/civil design without it.
Every flag in a group has the same normalized color-family set as the pictured character edition. Extra emblem colors disqualify a match. Gold/yellow form one family; light and dark blue form one family; maroon is red. White includes reviewed pale silver and light gray. Medium/dark gray and visibly darker metal remain separate.
This light-neutral grouping is an editorial convention, not a claim of identical colors or materials. Each affected character has a recorded review. Flat flag paints originally classified as gray/silver join white only when the mean sRGB channel is at least 190/255 and the channel spread is at most 20/255. Original palettes and paint families are preserved in the inventory.
Character colors come from the prior edition-specific source review, not automatic image sampling. Costume materials, worn fittings, emblems, lenses, fixed mechanical parts and characteristic nonhuman body colors count. Handheld weapons, carried ammunition, ordinary skin and hair, ink shadows, gleams and temporary effects do not.
Flag families are a visual classification of the displayed vector design, including emblem detail. The original paint values and reviewed family assignments are retained in the downloadable inventory. Matching is by named family, not identical hex values.
Each character appears once. Characters with identical sets share one band and one complete flag list. Flag illustrations retain their native proportions at a shared display height. The roster is a selection of 60 popular characters, not an inventory of all fictional characters.
Illustrations are existing third-party artwork, with sources and verified or qualified creator credits alongside the characters. Display copies may omit detached signature marks; original files and source records are retained. Pixel Symphony’s credit identifies the archive selection and layout, not authorship of the character artwork.
